This holy priest raid guide is a collation of tips and tricks regarding the Castle Nathria raid encounters. This guide will be updated as we continue into Mythic. Things like optimal X'anshi deaths and other small tips and tricks we learn will be added as we progress through the encounters.

Currently, we can see Harmonious Apparatus, Flash Concentration, and X'anshi, Return of Archbishop Benedictus to be valuable for this raid. If we notice any fights where one of the three legendaries reigns supreme (or if another legendary makes it onto the list!) we will make sure to add it.

Shriekwing
Legendaries

Harmonious Apparatus, Flash Concentration, or X'anshi are all good for this boss.

If you are using X'anshi, you will need to take special care to make sure you will not be out of the line of sight of your raid group as they run around the pillars around the room.

Talents

There are no special talent changes to be made on this boss. For general talent recommendations please look here.

Tips and Tricks
Normal and Heroic

Focus on raid members targeted with Echolocation, as they will need spot healing while they run out to drop their pools. If you are targeted with Echolocation, use Angelic Feather to run out of the raid to drop your pool, and consider using Desperate Prayer if you need a cooldown to handle the damage.

You will need to make sure that your tank's health pools are topped off before they are hit with Exsanguinating Bite, as that will reduce their healing taken for 15 seconds.

Mythic

There are not any major changes to how we play on this boss on the Mythic difficulty.

Covenant Abilities

Here are some recommendations on how to best use your covenant abilities on Shriekwing.

Kyrian

Boon of the Ascended

You should be able to get good value out of Boon of the Ascended as long as it isn't cast during the intermission, as most of the raid stays stacked making it easy to get good value out of the Ascended Eruption.

Phial of Serenity

This will be good to use if you are targeted with Echolocation and need a quick heal.

Night Fae

Fae Guardians

The damage reduction will be useful for tanks that are dealing with stacks of Exsanguinating Bite, as their healing received will be reduced up to 100%. The cooldown reduction will be nice on you only if you are able to make use of the shortened cooldown on Divine Hymn.

Soulshape

This will be great whenever you need to move for Echolocation, allowing you to jump out of the raid group quickly.

Necrolord

Unholy Nova

Unholy Nova can be used on cooldown on Shriekwing. You will want to target a raid member with it during the intermission as your raid team cannot hit the boss at that time and will not be able to make use of the Unholy Transfusion.

Fleshcraft

Fleshcraft can be used before the encounter starts and then on cooldown as there aren't any specific moments where you will need the shield for added survivability.

Venthyr

Mindgames

Mindgames can be used on cooldown on Shriekwing.

Door of Shadows

Door of Shadows can be used when you are targeted with Echolocation. It will allow you to easily move out of the raid to drop your sanguine.

Huntsman Altimor
Legendaries

Harmonious Apparatus, Flash Concentration, or X'anshi are all good for this boss.

Flash Concentration will be helpful when you need to heal the Ripped Soul that will need to be quickly healed to full before it reaches its destination. It's also helpful to triage members hurt with Sinseeker.

Talents
Mythic

Trail of Light may be a good choice on this fight on Mythic difficulty, as you may have multiple adds you need to heal very quickly, and the cleave healing from Trail of Light will help you there.

Tips and Tricks
Normal and Heroic

Aim to have Holy Word: Sanctify and Circle of Healing ready for the Vicious Lunge - you will need to run in to split the damage, then quickly heal it up and spread back out. These two instant cast abilities will make this easier for you.

Make sure to spam healing into the Ripped Soul that will need to be healed to full while Bargast is out. Guardian Spirit can be used to increase all healing to the target if necessary. Currently, when the Ripped Soul is fully healed it counts as a death for Guardian Spirit, putting it on a 3-minute cooldown even if you are talented into Guardian Angel.

If you are talented into Halo, make sure you do not hit the CC'd adds that should be off to the left. You can mitigate this by using Halo when they are not CC'd, or moving slightly to the right of the group so that the Halo is too far away. If you have trouble with it, you can change to the Benediction talent instead.

Mythic

On Mythic Difficulty, you will have to deal with multiple adds that will need to be healed up quickly. Using Trail of Light to cleave heal onto these targets could make the mechanic much easier to deal with. Targets that are closer to Huntsman Altimor should be the focus of your healing.

Covenant Abilities

Here are some recommendations on how to best use your covenant abilities on Huntsman Altimor.

Kyrian

Boon of the Ascended

Given that the raid remains spread out for the majority of this encounter, it will be a bit difficult to get maximum healing from this ability. You may want to time your boon so that your Ascended Eruption pops whenever a group is stacked for Vicious Lunge.

Phial of Serenity

This can be used at any time where you feel you need a defensive. Can be especially useful after you are hit with a Sinseeker, since our personals are lacking.

Night Fae

Fae Guardians

Your tank may call for damage reduction during some of the harder-hitting abilities that the "hounds" on this fight use, such as Jagged Claws by Margore. Otherwise, you can use this ability early and often to make use of the extra cooldown reduction on Divine Hymn, and the mana return.

Soulshape

There generally isn't a lot of movement in this fight, but you can definitely use Soulshape to jump into the pile during Vicious Lunge, or move out for Sinseeker.

Necrolord

Unholy Nova

Unholy Nova can be used on cooldown, making sure to use it on a priority target so that you can hit the melee group that is stacked around it.

Fleshcraft

Fleshcraft can be used before the encounter and then on cooldown for increased throughput, as there aren't any particular times where you need to have the increased survivability. It would be nice if it lined up with when you have Sinseeker, but that would be difficult to time.

Venthyr

Mindgames

Mindgames can be used on cooldown on Huntsman Altimor.

Door of Shadows

Door of Shadows can be used when you need to stack up for Vicious Lunge or move out for Sinseeker.

Sun King's Salvation
Legendaries

Harmonious Apparatus, Flash Concentration, or X'anshi are all good for this boss.

Flash Concentration is probably the best legendary for this encounter as it gives you very cheap and efficient heal for Kael'thas.

Talents

There is an opportunity to switch to Apotheosis for this encounter if you need additional healing for Kael'thas, and if your raid is generally healthy during the damage phase of the fight.

Tips and Tricks
Normal and Heroic

The goal of this fight is to heal multiple targets quickly and efficiently. You have a few different priority targets you need to be aware of throughout the encounter.

Soul Pedestals - Be ready to spot heal raid members that are dumping their health into the Soul Pedestals. The damage will increase the longer they channel, so they will need to remain topped as much as possible.

Essence Fonts - You will also need to spot heal the Essence Fonts as they drop because they will heal Kael'thas.

Kael'thas - If you do not need to heal either of the above targets and if the raid health is stable, you will be healing Kael'thas. A lot.

Mythic

Lasting Spirit is a very good conduit for this fight when you take into account the healing increase you are providing others in your raid group. If you have the option for two potency conduits, we would recommend Lasting Spirit and then Resonant Words.

Kael'thas will occasionally cast Unleashed Pyroclasm. The only way to interrupt his cast is to heal through his Cloak of Flames shield. That means you have 6 seconds to heal a significant amount of damage. Guardian Spirit can be used at this time to increase all of the healing Kael'thas takes, making this ability easier to deal with.

It is extremely common to dump all possible healing into Kael'thas in the first minute of the encounter in order to skip any shields and go right into the next phase. You may want to use Divine Hymn right off the bat for the increased healing, and coordinate your first Guardian Spirit and Power Infusion with your healing group to get the most out of your healing as you can.

Covenant Abilities

Here are some recommendations on how to best use your covenant abilities on Sun King's Salvation.

Kyrian

Boon of the Ascended

You will be able to get great value out of the Ascended Eruption and Ascended Nova during the DPS phase of this encounter, as the group will be stacked and following the Shade of Kael'thas. The Ascended Blast will be a very good way to efficiently spot heal your raid as well, which is wonderful since efficiency is very important in this encounter.

Phial of Serenity

This can be used at any time where you feel you need a defensive.

Night Fae

Fae Guardians

Otherwise, you can use this ability early and often to make use of the extra cooldown reduction on Divine Hymn, and the extra mana return.

Soulshape

There will not be a lot of movement for this fight, making Soulshape a bit difficult to use.

Necrolord

Unholy Nova

Unholy Nova can be used on cooldown onto the priority DPS target. This will spread a DoT to all of the adds and will heal the raid via Unholy Transfusion.

Fleshcraft

Fleshcraft can be used before the encounter and on cooldown after that, as there are no specific spots where you need the added survivability.

Venthyr

Mindgames

Mindgames can be used on cooldown on the main priority target for extra damage and healing.

Door of Shadows

There will not be a lot of movement for this fight, making Door of Shadows a bit difficult to use.

Artificer Xy'mox
Legendaries

Harmonious Apparatus, Flash Concentration, or X'anshi are all good for this boss.

There are many spots during this encounter that you could plan a death in order to heal the raid for free when using X'anshi. You could either stand in a seed to kill yourself or stay in for an Edge of Annihilation cast.

Talents

There are no special talent changes to be made on this boss. For general talent recommendations please look here.

Tips and Tricks
Normal and Heroic

This fight is very movement heavy. Make sure you are making the most out of all of your instant cast abilities so you can maintain throughput while bouncing around the portals.

You will need to spot heal any targets that have either been broken out of the Possession, or any raid members that have been afflicted by Withering Touch. You will also need to lightly heal the raid during Hyperlight Spark.

A raid cooldown will need to be used to keep the raid healthy after the tank explodes with Glyph of Destruction. This will be a great time to use either Holy Word: Salvation or Divine Hymn.

Mythic

There are not really any changes to how you need to heal when doing this encounter on Mythic. The difficulty of the fight is focused on the overlap of mechanics which will require even more movement.

Covenant Abilities

Here are some recommendations on how to best use your covenant abilities on Artificer Xy'mox.

Kyrian

Boon of the Ascended

You will want to use Boon of the Ascended during Edge of Annihilation in phase 3. You will be able to make good use of the speed increase while the wormhole is active, while also having a good spot to use your Ascended Eruption.

Phial of Serenity

This can be used at any time where you feel you need a defensive.

Night Fae

Fae Guardians

Your tank may call for damage reduction for Glyph of Destruction, which is a heavy DoT that the tanks will need to take out of the raid, limiting the healing they can receive. Otherwise, you can use this ability early and often to make use of the extra cooldown reduction on Divine Hymn, and the extra mana return.

Soulshape

Soulshape will be amazing during this fight. It can be used at any time, whether you're kiting a spirit or running out a seed.

Necrolord

Unholy Nova

Unholy Nova can be used on cooldown on Artificer Xy'Mox, allowing the raid to make use of the Unholy Transfusion.

Fleshcraft

Fleshcraft can be used before the encounter and on cooldown after that, as there are no specific spots where you need the added survivability.

Venthyr

Mindgames

Mindgames can be used on cooldown on Artificer Xy'mox.

Door of Shadows

Door of Shadows will be amazing during this fight. It can be used at any time, whether you're kiting a spirit or running out a seed.

Hungering Destroyer
Legendaries

Harmonious Apparatus, Flash Concentration, or X'anshi are all good for this boss.

Talents

There are no special talent changes to be made on this boss. For general talent recommendations please look here.

Tips and Tricks
Normal and Heroic

Make sure the raid is topped off for both Consume and Desolate, as these abilities can do large raid-wide damage.

Make sure to spot heal the players that are having their health leeched during Gluttonous Miasma. If only 2 or 3 players are leeching, it may be better to use single-target healing such as Heal and Holy Word: Serenity. If up to 5 people are stacked together, this is an awesome moment for Holy Word: Sanctify.

This is one of the only encounters where throwing out a Power Word: Shield or two is helpful, as absorbs are not reduced on targets with Gluttonous Miasma. It should not be spammed, but it could help save a life, especially during expunge when other players cannot be stacked with the target.

Mythic

There are currently no real changes between Heroic and Mythic difficulty that will change the way you heal.

Covenant Abilities

Here are some recommendations on how to best use your covenant abilities on Hungering Destroyer.

Kyrian

Boon of the Ascended

You can use Boon of the Ascended at any moment, though you should try to land the Ascended Eruption at a decent time. You should get good use if the Eruption happens on a stack of players dealing with Gluttonous Miasma, or when the raid is running away from the Hungering Destroyer for Consume.

Phial of Serenity

This can be used at any time where you feel you need a defensive.

Night Fae

Fae Guardians

The damage reduction can be nice here for members targetted with Gluttonous Miasma, especially during an Expunge which will separate the group. Otherwise, you can use this ability early and often to make use of the extra cooldown reduction on Divine Hymn, and the mana return.

Soulshape

Soulshape will be very useful when running away from Consume, or just to move out of other abilities like the Volatile Ejection.

Necrolord

Unholy Nova

Unholy Nova can be used almost on cooldown on the Hungering Destroyer, making sure not to use it when he is about to cast Consume.

Fleshcraft

Fleshcraft can be used here if you are targeted with Gluttonous Miasma, as shields are not affected by this debuff like healing is.

Venthyr

Mindgames

Mindgames can be used on cooldown on the Hungering Destroyer.

Door of Shadows

Door of Shadows can be used to travel out of the Consume pull-in.

Lady Inerva Darkvein
Legendaries

Harmonious Apparatus, Flash Concentration, or X'anshi are all good for this boss.

Talents

There are no special talent changes to be made on this boss. For general talent recommendations please look here.

Tips and Tricks
Normal and Heroic

Spot healing will be required for targets affected by Shared Suffering. As long as people are not standing in the lines, you should only have to spot heal a couple of players, so you can just use Heal to keep them healthy.

You will also need to spot heal players that have the Shared Cognition debuff.

Be prepared to heal the raid with Holy Word: Salvation or Divine Hymn if a vial of Bottled Anima shatters, causing Unleashed Volatility.

Covenant Abilities

Here are some recommendations on how to best use your covenant abilities on Inerva Darkvein.

Kyrian

Boon of the Ascended

You should be able to use Boon at any point you need the extra throughput, as the raid stays loosely stacked throughout the encounter, making it easy to make use out of the Ascended Nova and Ascended Eruption.

Phial of Serenity

This can be used at any time where you feel you need a defensive.

Night Fae

Fae Guardians

There are not currently any heavy-hitting abilities where a tank may ask for a damage reduction external - make sure to use this ability early and often to make use of the cooldown reduction of Divine Hymn and the mana return.

Soulshape

Soulshape will be great to use if you need to avoid a mechanic or blink towards the Bottled Anima to soak it.

Necrolord

Unholy Nova

Unholy Nova can be used on cooldown on Inerva Darkvein.

Fleshcraft

Fleshcraft can be used before the encounter and on cooldown after that, as there are no specific spots where you need the added survivability.

Venthyr

Mindgames

Mindgames can be used on cooldown on Inerva Darkvein.

Door of Shadows

Door of Shadows can be used to avoid mechanics or to help soak the Bottled Anima.

The Council of Blood
Legendaries

Harmonious Apparatus, Flash Concentration, or X'anshi are all good for this boss.

Talents

There are no special talent changes to be made on this boss. For general talent recommendations please look here.

Tips and Tricks
Normal and Heroic

This fight has a ton of ticking raid-wide damage. First, the raid will have a constant Oppressive Atmosphere, which can get overwhelming and may require a healing cooldown such as Holy Word: Salvation or Divine Hymn.

Spot healing will be required for raid members targeted with Drain Essence.

Mythic

The mythic difficulty has Dancing Fever, which can be dealt with in two different ways. Either your raid team will stagger the jumping so the damage is spread out, in which you will mostly heal with Prayer of Healing and Holy Word: Sanctify, or you will choose to jump at once during a few raid cooldowns, where you will use Holy Word: Salvation or Divine Hymn.

Covenant Abilities

Here are some recommendations on how to best use your covenant abilities on the Council of Blood.

Kyrian

Boon of the Ascended

Boon can be used to either deal with the increased stacks of Oppressive Atmosphere, or on Mythic difficulty, it can be used to counter Dancing Fever.

Phial of Serenity

This can be used at any time where you feel you need a defensive.

Night Fae

Fae Guardians

Damage reduction will be helpful for Duelist's Riposte and Evasive Lunge, the tank swap mechanics that will deal more damage each time they are cast and require a tank swap. Otherwise, use this ability on cooldown to make use of the cooldown reduction on Divine Hymn and the mana return.

Soulshape

Soulshape will be helpful to get you to your assigned spot for the intermission.

Necrolord

Unholy Nova

Unholy Nova can be used when Oppressive Atmosphere is feeling overwhelming, or during Dancing Fever on Mythic difficulty. Fill in additional casts if they are available.

Fleshcraft

Fleshcraft can be used before the encounter and on cooldown after that, as there are no specific spots where you need the added survivability.

Venthyr

Mindgames

Mindgames can be used on cooldown on the priority damage target.

Door of Shadows

Door of Shadows will be helpful in getting you to your assigned spot for the intermission.

Sludgefist
Legendaries

Harmonious Apparatus, Flash Concentration, or X'anshi are all good for this boss.

Talents

There are no special talent changes to be made on this boss. For general talent recommendations please look here.

Tips and Tricks
Normal and Heroic

You will need to heal the raid every 30 seconds after Colossal Roar. You will most likely not use a major cooldown for it, so you can heal the raid through Holy Word: Sanctify and Prayer of Healing.

You will most likely want to use raid cooldowns when Sludgefist uses Hateful Gaze. the aftermath of the charge through Destructive Impact will deal raid-wide damage. During this time it is very important that the entire raid soaks the falling debris, which will do even more damage. You can use Holy Word: Salvation right after the damage starts and still be able to move and soak, or you can use Divine Hymn after everyone has soaked and you can stand still and channel.

Covenant Abilities

Here are some recommendations on how to best use your covenant abilities on Sludgefist.

Kyrian

Boon of the Ascended

The raid will be mostly spread out during this encounter, so it will be difficult to get the maximum value out of the Ascended Eruption. We would recommend using it while soaking during the Destructive Impact.

Phial of Serenity

This can be used at any time where you feel you need a defensive.

Night Fae

Fae Guardians

There should not be any specific abilities you need the damage reduction for on this boss, so make sure to use Fae Guardians early and often to make use of the cooldown reduction on Divine Hymn and the mana return.

Soulshape

It will be difficult to use this ability as you are chained to another player and will die if you break that chain.

Necrolord

Unholy Nova

You can use this ability on cooldown, and can especially use it during Destructive Impact.

Fleshcraft

Fleshcraft can be used before the encounter and on cooldown after that, as there are no specific spots where you need the added survivability.

Venthyr

Mindgames

Mindgames can be used on cooldown on the boss.

Door of Shadows

It will be difficult to use this ability as you are chained to another player and will die if you break that chain.

Stone Legion Generals
Legendaries

Harmonious Apparatus, Flash Concentration, or X'anshi are all good for this boss.

Talents

There are no special talent changes to be made on this boss. For general talent recommendations please look here.

Tips and Tricks
Normal and Heroic

You will need to use Purify on targets afflicted with Heart Rend. Once dispelled, Heart Rend will turn into Heart Hemorrhage, requiring spot healing for the player that had Heart Rend and the player that dispelled it. You can use Heal on this or Flash Heal if emergency triage is necessary.

There will be a lot of ticking damage from multiple bleeds such as Serrated Tear or Wicked Laceration, which will require consistent damage to the majority of the raid. While most of the time you can heal through this using our general rotation, you may need to use a cooldown. Damage will also spike when the raid needs to soak a Pulverizing Meteor and may require a cooldown as well.

Mythic

On Mythic difficulty, you will need to deal with the Stonegale Effigy, a pushback that has the opportunity to knock you off of the platform and kill you. This is a great opportunity to use Leap of Faith on any raid members that need help dealing with the pushback.

Covenant Abilities

Here are some recommendations on how to best use your covenant abilities on the Stone Legion Generals.

Kyrian

Boon of the Ascended

Boon can be used here when the Ascended Eruption will happen during the Pulverizing Meteor, or just when damage is high via the many bleeds in this fight.

On Mythic difficulty, there is a chance a Pulverizing Meteor will happen during Stonegale Effigy, and the movement speed increase that Boon provides is very helpful during that pushback.

Phial of Serenity

This can be used at any time where you feel you need a defensive.

Night Fae

Fae Guardians

Tanks may need damage reduction for a few abilities throughout this encounter, including Serrated Swipe and Stone Fist. If they do not, then you can use this ability early and often to make use of the cooldown reduction on Divine Hymn and the mana return.

Soulshape

Soulshape will be very helpful if you need to take out the Wicked Blade.

On Mythic difficulty, Soulshape will be useful for the pushback that is caused by the Stonegale Effigy.

Necrolord

Unholy Nova

Unholy Nova can be used on cooldown on the priority target.

Fleshcraft

Fleshcraft can be used before the encounter and on cooldown after that, as there are no specific spots where you need the added survivability.

Venthyr

Mindgames

Mindgames can be used on cooldown on the priority target.

Door of Shadows

Door of Shadows will be very helpful if you need to take out the Wicked Blade.

On Mythic difficulty, Door of Shadows will be useful for the pushback that is caused by the Stonegale Effigy.

Sire Denathrius
Legendaries

Harmonious Apparatus, Flash Concentration, or X'anshi are all good for this boss.

Talents

There are no special talent changes to be made on this boss. For general talent recommendations please look here.

Tips and Tricks
Normal and Heroic

In the first phase, you will need to heal the raid as they take damage from Cleansing Pain so that they can drop their Burden of Sin stacks. The raid will be split up into groups for Cleansing pain, so you will be able to easily heal them up via Prayer of Healing and Holy Word: Sanctify.

In phase two you will need to spot heal with Heal and possibly Flash Heal when players are hit with Impale. You will also need to heal the raid after Hand of Destruction, though that damage will decrease if you take a mirror portal away from the boss.

In the last phase, there will be a lot of raid-wide damage when Ravage is cast, which will be a great time for Divine Hymn or Holy Word: Salvation. If you are using Divine Hymn, make sure you position and time your cast well so you will not be knocked back by Shattering Pain or hit by the Massacre swords.

Covenant Abilities

Here are some recommendations on how to best use your covenant abilities on Sire Denathrius.

Kyrian

Boon of the Ascended

Try to use Boon early and often, as you should be able to stack with other players pretty consistently throughout this fight, which will give the Ascended Eruption great value.

Phial of Serenity

This can be used at any time where you feel you need a defensive.

Night Fae

Fae Guardians

Tanks may need damage reduction for Shattering Pain during this encounter. If they do not, then you can use this ability early and often to make use of the cooldown reduction on Divine Hymn and the mana return.

Soulshape

Soulshape will be great during March of the Penitent, where you need to reach Denathrius within 15 seconds.

Necrolord

Unholy Nova

Unholy Nova can be used on cooldown on Denathrius, making sure that your fellow raiders can make use of the Unholy Transfusion.

Fleshcraft

Fleshcraft can be used before the encounter begins and on cooldown throughout it.

Venthyr

Mindgames

Mindgames can be used on cooldown on Denathrius.

Door of Shadows

Door of Shadows will be great during March of the Penitent, where you need to reach Denathrius within 15 seconds.
